Developing Healthy Vulnerability: Thought Questions

Here are some thought questions intended to be used alongside the video The Path to Belonging: What Lilo, Stitch, and Brene Brown Teach us about the Power of Vulnerability. These questions can be used for self-reflection, group discussion, or writing prompts in a variety of settings.

  1. Reflect on Your Own Experiences: Can you recall a time when you tried to fit in and it didn't work out? How did it make you feel, and what did you learn from that experience?

  2. Identifying Authenticity: Think about a situation where you felt a true sense of belonging. What was different about that situation compared to times when you were just trying to fit in?

  3. Vulnerability in Action: What is one small step you can take this week to be more vulnerable and authentic in your relationships? How might this step help you build deeper connections?

  4. Embracing Differences: How do you view your own 'alien' qualities or differences? In what ways can you start seeing them as strengths rather than weaknesses?

  5. Supporting Others: Consider someone in your life who might be struggling to feel like they belong. How can you support them in a way that encourages their authenticity and vulnerability?

  6. Balancing Compromise and Authenticity: How can you practice healthy compromise in your relationships without sacrificing your true self? Can you think of a recent situation where you balanced both effectively?

  7. Finding Your Tribe: What communities or groups can you explore that might better align with your authentic self? How can you start seeking out these connections?

  8. Dealing with Rejection: How do you handle rejection when you show your true self? What strategies can you use to remind yourself of your worth during these times?

  9. Learning from Lilo and Stitch: What lessons from Lilo and Stitch’s journey can you apply to your own life to enhance your sense of belonging?

  10. Cultivating Courage: In what ways can you cultivate more courage in your life to embrace vulnerability? What fears do you need to confront to make this possible?
